2022 – Catboat/ PHRF Spring Series
Notice of Race.
1. Rules - The Series will be governed by the rules as defined by the Racing Rules of Sailing.
2. Entries - Competitors may enter at any time during the Series. There is a $25.00 fee payable to BYSC for the Catboat/PHRF Spring Series.
3. Registration – Registration and payment of fee will be online at byscnet.com. Go to byscnet.com, sailing tab and look for Catboat/Keelboat series.
3. Communications - Channel 78
4. Schedule – Saturday Skippers meetings on the dock 12:00pm. Race start 1:00pm unless a different time is agreed upon at the Skippers Meeting. A second race may be sailed. Dates:
March 12th #1, March 19th #2, March 26th #3, April 9th #4. April 16th #5,
April 23rd #6, April 30th #7, May 7th, #8, May 21st #9 –FINAL.
5. Racing Area and Marks - Beaufort River in front of club with a Start/ Finish Line. The course will use Government marks or “no wake” buoys between the Woods Bridge and marks along the east shore of Parris Island. Round all turning marks to PORT. Cross under McTeer Bridge within two bridge sections of Main Channel. Marks not part of the course need not be honored but the skipper takes total responsibility for the risk of deviating from the recommended ICW course. ICW 242 shall not be passed to the west under any circumstances.
6. Course/Start/Finishes - Course is to be agreed to at Skippers Meetings. All boats will start at the same time utilizing US Government Time as verified at the Skippers meeting. Start/Finish line maybe a mooring buoy and permanent landmark or between 2 red buoys south or west of BYSC mooring field. The race might be shortened during the race using VHF CH78. Please record your finish time and note the boats who finish before and after you. Communicate this information to Frank P. upon finishing at the dock or by end of day to fponti@islc.net. PHRF scores will be calculated using time on time.
7. Rule Infraction - One turn penalty shall be taken as soon as safely possible.
