March will start or racing in earnest with the Catboat Spring Series starting on March 14 and continuing most Saturday’s until the end of May.  Competitor’s Meetings at noon, race starts at 1pm.

The high schoolers have a big point score regatta on March 21.  Plan on stopping by to watch 16 high school teams compete in 420’s right in front of the club dock.  It’s a great event with 100 youngsters having a great time-a very positive event for juniors. This is the last HS event in their season so competition will be intense.

Flag Raising on March 27 officially starts the club season.  Look for social details in this Bow Watch.

PHRF keelboat racers join the Catboat fleet to start their Spring Series on Sat., March 28.

On Sunday, March 29 our dinghy fleets start their Spring Series; MC Scows, Sunfish, Lasers, Opti’s and O’Pen Skiffs.  The dinghy racers need your help on race committee.  Check out the volunteer opportunities on the BYSC website at, go to Sailing, drop down to Volunteer Opportunities and just sign up-experience not necessary.  Enjoy a day on the water and get credit for volunteer hours toward next years’ dues.

By the time you get the April Bow Watch the Santa Elena Regatta will probably be history.  This is long standing event for keelboats and catboats and will be sailed the first weekend of April with the Jean Ribaut Cup on Sat., April 4 and the Menendez Cup on Sun. April 5.  The Santa Elena Trophy, sponsored by the Santa Elena Foundation, will be awarded to the top boat from all classes for both days.  The dinner on Sat. night is open to all members.   Look for further comments from Regatta Chair, Jim Thomas.

See you on the water.  Frank P.
