Get Ready to Race!
We are less than three weeks away from the start of Fall Dinghy Racing, which begins on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7 at 1:00 pm. All small sailboats (laser, JY15, sunfish, sailfish, etc.) are welcome.
If you have any questions or doubts about whether to join us feel free to email me. We will be using the Portsmouth Yardstick for handicapping boats that do not sail in a class (three or more one-design boats). If you do not know what that is — don’t worry, I’m not sure I do either.
Lucky for us, Frank Pontious will be there to explain how it works at the Skipper’s Meeting at 11:30 a.m. on race day. All you need to do is show up and sail and, most importantly, have some fun on the water. Our objective is to create racing opportunities for members who have sailboats not normally raced at BYSC.
Here’s everything you need to know:
It’s easy to pre-register online and bring your cash or check (preferred) with you on Labor Day. If you prefer to pay by credit card, you’ll have to pay in advance by dropping by the BYSC office during business hours Monday thru Friday. Ask for Susan.
If you have any difficulty pre-registering, email me your name, type of sailboat and sail number. I’d love to know beforehand who is going to be joining us.
See you out on the water!
