Dear Fellow Members,
This is my last formal message to you as Commodore, and I have to say that it has been an honor to serve.
This year has been a very busy one and would not have been as successful without the outstanding efforts of our Committee Chairs and our many Member Volunteers.
We successfully held the Lowcountry Regatta and the Y-Flyer Championships back to back in June. Special thanks to Racing Chair, Gordon Sproul and Fleet Captain, Andy Kinghorn for their hard work and dedication in organizing and running these two regattas with the assistance of many Member Volunteers.
Social Chair, Sally Germer and her band of Member Volunteers did yeoman’s work during those 2 Regattas as well as planning and running the many successful social events we had this year.
Our Club is in a very good position in terms of membership, financial stability, and our facilities continue to improve. I do not take credit for this, though. It is due in part to a favorable economic environment, but mostly due to a dedicated and involved Member base, staff, and strong leadership at the Board & GM level.
The BYSC and BCSB Boards have collaborated to create a new position of Activities Director. This is a full-time position and the cost will be shared between the two organizations. This person will be responsible for working with our Committee Chairs to enhance shore-based activities such as pickle ball and bocce tournaments, as well as water-based activities such as regattas, adult sailing, flotillas, and managing BCSB sailing programs.
So, thank you for making our little Club special, and I hope to see you on the water.
