Organizing                             The Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club



Rules                                        The Gathering will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing.

Life jackets and shoes are required to be worn by all sailors.

Eligibility                              The Gathering is open to all Catboats with a cat rig.

Entry                                        Eligible boats may enter by completing the Entry Form and paying the required fee to Organizing Authority no later than the day of the first race, May 6, 2017.

Racing and meal fees are payable to the Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club (BYSC).

Fees and Meals                Boat Entry Fee $25.00

An informal cookout consisting of either chicken or burgers is planned Saturday evening at the BYSC. The cost is $10.00 per person, payable at registration.

Courses                                A total of four races are planned starting and finishing in the Beaufort River in front of BYSC.

Two around the buoys in front of BYSC and two long distance races around a government mark off Parris Island. One race constitutes a Gathering.

There will be one start for all boats unless there are sufficient entrants for class racing. All classes to start at one time.

Scoring                                PHRF ratings as agreed by competitors. Three trophies will be awarded to the low point winners.

VHF Radio                       VHF radios are required. Channel 72 will be used.

Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. No other  communication devices are allowed.


of Liability                         Competitors participate in the Gathering entirely at their own risk. See of Liability RRS Rule 4, Decision To Race. The Organization Authority will not accept any liability for material damage, personal                                                              injury or death sustained in conjunction with, prior to, during, or after the Gathering.

Lodging                               Most hotel chains are represented in the Beaufort area. Beaufort Catboat sailors will attempt to offer lodging.


Trailer Storage             Docking and trailer storage at BYSC will be at no cost to Gathering  participants.

Driving                               From the North: take Rt. US 21 south, follow Bus. 21 through downtown To BYSC Beaufort and over the Woods swing bridge. Take the second right, Meridian Rd. Turn right onto Yacht Club Drive. From                                                        the South: from To BYSC SC 170 turn east(right) on SC 128 after the Broad River Bridge. At the stop light turn right to Route 21 through Poet Royal. At the light with Advance Auto Parts turn right over the                                                      McTeer Bridge. Take the next left at Meridian Rd then left to Yacht Club Drive.

Release, Waiver and Covenant Not To Sue The undersigned acknowledges that in consideration of the efforts of the Organization, authority for being allowed to participate in this Gathering and the acceptance of this application to race, does hereby waive and release any and all claims the undersigned may have against the host, its officers, directors ,or trustees and its committee members, measurers, judges, agents, and representatives arising out of the activities required for the races on the water, and does further covenant and agree not to sue or bring any claim or claims of any nature whatsoever against the host Organizing Authority or any of the persons and offices named or unnamed above who may be acting on the hosts or its/their behalf.
