On Memorial Day Weekend BYSC held its annual Water Festival Regatta. Sailors from five different fleets participated in what turned out to be fantastic sailing weather, despite the heat. Although the Sunday race was scheduled to start at 2:00, we awaited the breeze that soon arrived in style, blowing 8-12 knots from the east, an uncommon direction. On Memorial Day we again had good but challenging winds, blowing in gusts up to 20 Knots. Despite several capsizes in the Bic fleet, everyone finished the races. Winners were as follows. In the PHRF fleet, a fleet that is handicapped by the characteristics of each boat, in first place was Frank Pontious. in the Evo class David Guggenheim finished first. In the MC class Sean Quigley was first and Paul Keyserling was second. In the In the Y-Flyer class Henry McCray was first with David Buckley coming in second. The Sunfish class found Brock Blonski in first and Rota Teranius in second. And in the Bic class, Bella Duer was first, David Turner was second and James Fabian came in third. After the races we were treated to cold drinks by the Beaufort Water Festival and on Monday, after all scores were tallied, the WF Commodore Brian Patrick presented the awards to our winners.
