As we reflect on 2019 we can say that we have had another great year of learning, competition and building of a lifelong sport and family activity on the river. Our High School graduates are going on to do great things on the college scene. The High School team has upheld their high standards in SAISA. The Opti and O’Pen Skiff sailors have competed throughout SAYRA and the country and we are filling the podiums everywhere we go, most notably on every podium for the SAYRA Jr Grand Prix series.

Our Learn to Sail program continued bringing more and new youth to learn the joys and self confidence to successfully rig, sail and navigate their own boat. Our continuation program for the Opti Green Fleeters ran deep into the fall and we can see their excitement continuing.

Our 2nd full season of hosting the national Spirit of America program was another huge success for us and is having a huge impact on middle school children in the area. Of all of our programs, Spirit of America is the one that couldn’t happen without a massive outpouring of volunteer support from our community. We are indebted to this great group of people who keep the program running.

Coming up on New Years Day is a time to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished together in the past year and to get excited for what 2020 has to bring! We look forward to sharing some very exciting news with you that will take sailing to the next level!

We want to invite you, your family and friends to our Annual Oyster Roast & Auction. As always, we have incredible donations to bid on from art, tools, boats, offshore fishing trips, sailing trips, and nautical items. Our ever popular oysters will be roasted and pair perfectly with our bloody mary and mimosa bars. And of course, we’ll have our barbecue (pork & chicken) and sides from Q on Bay. Please let your friends know what a great time it is and make sure they come out for a not to be missed event supporting all things sailing and boating in Beaufort.

Tickets are available at the door, but it would be really helpful to sign up early:

Finally, we just ask for a bit of assistance with running the day. Many hands make light work and if you could go to the Sign-up Genius and put yourself down for just a small bit of help, that would be great. As simple as setup or tear down or just bringing a desert.

We hope you have a joyous holiday season, a Merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing you and your family on New Years Day!
