Part of our annual Change of Watch celebration is the chance to recognize and award members for their contributions over the year in the spirit of volunteerism and excellent sailing. 

Congratulations to all of the winners of 2018 and thank you to the many people who have dedicated endless hours to our club programs and facility throughout the year.

2018 BYSC CLUB AWARDS. 

  1. Volunteer Spirit Award. Recognition given to those persons who have exhibited a major volunteer effort through the year, mostly working behind the scenes.

  1. Most Improved Sailor. Awarded yearly to that person who is thought to have most significantly improved their sailing ability over the year.

CLAY MEYERS, 420 HS sailor

  1. George Post Corinthian Award. Awarded yearly to that sailor that exhibits many of the attributes of George Post: good sportsmanship, sense of humor, persistent involvement in sailing and striving to increase sailing activity at BYSC.

MARK MODERHACK, MC Scow sailor.

  1. Dennis Fuller Youth Seamanship Award. Awarded yearly to that junior sailor who exhibited enthusiasm, interest and dedication in improving their sailing knowledge and in assisting other sailors to excel.

THOMAS GNANN

  1. Top Junior.Formerly the Top Sunfish sailor this is awarded yearly to the junior who is considered one of the top junior sailors in the Club.

IAN HOOGENBOOM

  1. USSailing Sportsmanship Award. Awarded yearly to a sailor who exhibits outstanding  sportsmanship while sailing at BYSC.

ANDY KINGHORN

  1. Race Management Award. Awarded yearly to that person(s) who has exhibited professionalism and dedication in race management.

WAYNE BRETSCH, PRO for Laser D-D12, Lightning Districts, LCR Opti, Pluff Mud Opti and involved in various sailing seminars.

  1. A Mills Kinghorn award for sailing excellence. In honor of Mills Kinghorn this award is presented yearly to the sailor who has shown to be consistently an outstanding sailor or who has done especially well at a specific series or regatta.

JOHN MCINTOSH, won 15 out of 21 MC Scow races for the Fall Series plus winning the Spring Series and representing BYSC at the SAYRA Club Championship.

  1. Commodore Service Award. Awarded annually by the Commodore to the member(s) who has played a very important part during the year to support him/her in accomplishing the goals and objectives of the Commodore office.
