62nd Beaufort Water Festival Sailing Regatta     

Sponsored by the Beaufort Water Festival Committee

and the Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club (Organizing Authority)  

    

Notice of Race

RULES: The regatta will be governed by the rules defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). Life jacket and shoes are required for each sailor.

ELIGIBILITY: The regatta is open to all PHRF boats including catboats, and one-design dinghy classes.

ENTRY: Expected classes are: PHRF fleet including catboats, VX1, Laser, MC Scow, Sunfish, JY-15, 420’s, Open Bic’s, Optimist (15 years old & younger) and a Portsmouth class for those classes 2nd with less than three boats. Courses will be described in the Sailing Instructions-the PHRF boats will have a separate course.

REGISTRATION AND FEES: Eligible boats may enter by completing the Registration Form and paying the proper fee: $25 per boat. Registration forms are available on line at www.bftwaterfestival.com and at www.byscnet.com/Sailing/wfr. You can pre-register online and pay on the day of the regatta. By registering, all registrants agree that they will be bound by the RRS and by all other rules that govern this event.

SCHEDULE: Sunday, May 28 11:30 am – 1:00 pm Registration – Sailing Instructions available. 1:00 pm Competitors’ Meeting 1:45 pm Warning for all PHRF boats, including Catboats. 2:00 pm Warning for the first race for one-design classes. Other races to follow. Monday, May 29 12:45 pm Warning for all PHRF boats, including Catboats. 1:00 pm Warning for first race for one-design classes. Other races to follow. No races will start after 3pm due to Memorial Day picnic and Water Festival award ceremony. 5:00 pm Awards

SAILING AREA: The regatta will be sailed on the Beaufort River with the PHRF and Catboats sailing between the Beaufort Memorial Hospital area to the north and G33 to the south. The course length TBD depending on wind conditions. One-design dinghies will sail between the Beaufort Memorial Hospital area to the north and the McTeer Bridge to the south. Courses will be described in the sailing instructions.

SCORING: Three races are scheduled for the PHRF fleet and five races are scheduled for the one-design dinghy fleets. All races will be scored. This changes RRS A2.1. One race must be completed to constitute a regatta.

PRIZES: Trophies will be awarded as follows: 1 for 3 boats in a class, 2 for 5 boats, and 3 for 6 or more boats.

DOCKING: Docking space is available at BYSC while it lasts.

WAIVER STATEMENT for the Beaufort Water Festival

In consideration of the acceptance of this entry, I, the undersigned assume full responsibility for any injury or accident that may occur during the event; and we herby release and hold harmless the sponsors, promoters, Beaufort Water Festival, Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club, the race committee, and other persons and entities associated with the event from all injury or damage, whether it be caused by negligence of the sponsors, promoters, Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club, the race committee, Beaufort Water Festival, their volunteers, promoters and other persons associated with this event or otherwise. Further, I hereby grant full permission to any and all of the foregoing to use photographs, videotapes, or other record of this event.

RELEASE, WAIVER AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE for the Beaufort Yacht & Sailing Club

The undersigned acknowledges that in consideration of the efforts of the host organization(s), for being allowed to participate in this regatta/races and the acceptance of this application to race, he does hereby waive and release any and all claims the undersigned may have against the host(s), its officers, directors, or trustees and it committee members, measurers, judges, agents and representatives arising out of the activities required for the races on the water, and does further covenant and agree not to sue or to bring any claim or claims of any nature whatsoever against the host organization(s) or any of the persons and offices named or unnamed above who may be acting on the host(s) or its/their behalf.
