NOTICE OF RACE

Dates: April 28-29, 2018

Organizing Authority: The Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club

Rules: Governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing.

Eligibility:       The Gathering is open to all Catboats with a Cat Rig.

Entry:            Eligible boats may enter by owners completing the Entry Form and paying the equired fee to the Organizing Authority no later than the day of the first race, April 28, 2018. Racing and meal fees are payable to the Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club (BYSC).

Fees and        Boat Registration Fee $25.00

Meals             An informal cookout consisting of either chicken or hamburger is planned Saturday April 28th at the Beaufort Yacht and          Sailing Club.

6:00pm BYSC “Sunset Friday Party” Pot luck dinner with Mexican theme. Bring something to share with twice your number.

11:00 First Race Warning for Long Distance Race to Government mark off Parris Island (low tide 2:51 PM)

Second race to follow, off Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club

6:00  Cook-out dinner at BYSC, $15 per person

11:00  Third race, short, in front of BYSC. Low tide 3:35 PM

Trophy Awards as soon as possible after race.

Due to low tide, boat retrieval on trailers will begin around 4:30 PM

SIs                     Available at Registration

Courses           A total of three races are planned, two in front of BYSC and one to Parris  Island, finishing at BYSC.

Scoring            PHRF New England Area ratings will be used. Three trophies will be to the low point winners.

VHF Radio      VHF radios are required. Channel 72 will be used. Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. No other communication devices are allowed.

Disclaimer of Liability   Competitors participate in the Gathering entirely at their own risk. See   RRS Rule 4, Decision To Race. The Organization Authority will not accept any liability for material damage, personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with, prior to, during, or after the Gathering.

Lodging           Most hotel chains are represented in the Beaufort area. Beaufort Catboat sailors may offer lodging.

 

Driving  to BYSC

From the North: take Rt. US 21 south, follow Bus. 21 through downtown Beaufort and over the Woods swing bridge. Take the second right, Meridian Rd. Turn right onto Yacht Club Drive.

From the South: from SC 170 turn east(right) on SC 128 after the Broad River Bridge. At the stop light turn right to Route 21 through Port Royal. At the light with Advance Auto Parts turn right over the McTeer Bridge. Take the second left at Meridian Rd then left to Yacht Club Drive.

The undersigned acknowledges that in consideration of the efforts of the host organization, for being allowed to participate in this Gathering/races and the acceptance of this application to race, does hereby waive and release any and all claims the undersigned may have against the host, its officers, directors ,or trustees and its committee members, measurers, judges, agents, and representatives arising out of the activities required for the races on the water, and does further covenant and agree not to sue or bring any claim or claims of any nature whatsoever against the host organization or any of the persons and offices named or unnamed above who may be acting on the hosts or its/their behalf.
